Preface
If you are coming from abroad, perhaps with a family to stay at KEK, you might feel hesitant about a longer stay because it is in a more rural setting and there might not be much to do, (other than work, of course) being distant from the big cities.
This is written to dispel any of those fears. My husband and I came to stay at KEK from September 2003 to January 2004. We had a wonderful time, work-wise and otherwise. We found everyone at KEK, and Japanese people in general, very kind and helpful. I have put together this information to supplement existing KEK information sites with some of the things that we discovered during our stay; with useful tips and ideas for the "living" side of your visit or stay. So, if you happen to be a middle(+) aged vegetarian couple (1 English, 1 American) with 7 grandchildren all under the age of 4, this information will be perfect for you, but if not, hope it will prove to be useful and helpful for you anyway!
